THE ARTS

Support of the arts can be traced to The Links, Incorporated co-founder Margaret Rosell Hawkins. Her innate artistic talent, discovered at a young age, led her to study and teach art and gave root to the establishment of The Arts facet. Today, Links chapters regularly partner with art galleries, museums, symphonies, arts councils, educational institutes, and corporations to support and develop art programs, especially where there is a focus on artists of color.

Most recently, the Farmington Valley (CT) Chapter joined with Hartford Stage where they introduced students to minority playwrights, the Windsor Arts Center where they hosted opening receptions for Black artists, and Grace Academy where they developed a yearlong poetry enrichment course for urban middle school aged students. Our programming continues to foster creativity through all forms of art for youth and adults as well as expose our communities to the culturally rich contributions of the African diaspora.
